The Ministry of Energy, Water and Communications (MEWC) was established on March 27, 2004, replacing the Ministry of Energy, Communications and Multimedia (MECM), which was established on November 1, 1998, through a restructuring of the Ministry of Energy, Telecommunications and Posts. It was renamed the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water (KeTTHA) on April 2009 due to the restructuring of the cabinet.
