Kyubei was a villager of Shaiga, in the Mantis lands. In 1166 the bloodspeakers attacked the city. They were saved by the arrival of the Scorpion cavalry, carrying the banner of the Imperial Legions and Shosuro Naname, the Sixth Legion Commander.
