The Sea of Winter is a large ocean on the western side of the Shores of Winter. It proves a difficult beast to navigate by mariners due to the large amount of icebergs and small ice islands that float in the waves. More skilled sailors will stick very close to the coast, just in case of any difficulties out at sea. It is believed that a sea dragon, known as the Sea Serpent of the Sea of Winter (or just The Sea Serpent), lurks within her depths. This myth is compounded by tales told by some of the barbarians of Bloodfall and minstrels that occupy the taverns and inns of the Shores.
