In 1754 a plan known as the Albany Plan of Union was rejected by the British North American colonies due to it taking away some of their powers, but in this POD they didn't reject it. The plan went through to London, and with the help of William Pitt (who in this timeline was not as ill) the Plan was passed and thus British North American was united to form the North American Union.
