Milos Stankovic MBE (born 1962), a Major in the British Army, was arrested for treason in December 1997. He sued the Ministry of Defence for £1 million for the loss of his army career. In November 2007 he was awarded £5,000 damages while his costs in the action are estimated at £500,000. As a Serbo-Croat speaker he worked closely with General Sir Michael Rose, the commander of the United Nations Protection Force in Bosnia, negotiating with Bosnian Serb leaders.
