Ruthene culture started from that of the Selloi and Korimis, with their pagan beliefs and specific way of life in the wooded areas of the Rothinoi Peninsula. Early Ruthenes culture was much influenced by neighbouring Finno-Ugric tribes and by nomadic, mainly Korimi, peoples of the Pontic steppe. In the late 600 AM, the Korimis has a great influence in the culture of the ancient Selloi and accepted Orthodox Christianity from the Selloi influences in the year 1000 AM, and this largely defined the ruthene culture of next millennium as the synthesis of Selloi and Kormenian cultures.
