Lankers were unleashed into Maine during the Maine Outbreak, and took up residence into several towns and Belfast. They were encountered by Alan, where he first witnessed two Lankers messily ripping a poor man apart. Alan killed several of them, but was wounded by one and only saved by a military commander. Lankers continued to run amok, killing anything that wasn't infected, but were wiped out when the military cleared Maine of B.O.W.s.
