The Strategic Defense Initiative was a government program during the 1980s to use ground and space based systems to protect the United States. It was nicknamed "Star Wars" after the famous film franchise of the same name. Students at Bayville High School were assigned a research project on the program. However, one student, Evan Daniels, wrote about the movies rather than the program. His teacher did give him a make-up assignment.
