On September 18th, 2011, Next Generation Wrestling on Episode 4 of SmackDown! annouced 8 man tournament to determinate Intercontinental Champion. Sheamus was first ever NGW Intercontinental Champion, defeated Rob Van Dam at NGW - Breaking Point. NGW Intercontinental Championship is the secondary championship on SmackDown!. Rob Van Dam is the current NGW Intercontinental Champion. He won a ladder match at NGW - Extreme Rules February 6th, 2011.
