The M21-G1 Massiff-class Fighter was used by the forces of Zergal the Hutt. Following the success of its other Hutt-commissioned ships, MandalMotors was approached by Zergal the Hutt, who requested the commission of a new fighter to supplement the older designs that were still being purchased. Seeing this as an opportunity for a larger flow of credits to fund the Mandalorian war effort, MandalMotors CEO Karric Nayms assigned a team to draft up schematics for the snub fighter. Following the overwhelming success of the G1-M4-C Dunelizard, MandalMotors got to work on a major redesign of the craft for the specifications that the Hutts pitched, resulting in a ship that could be considered the Dunelizard's successor, if it were not for the difference in appearance and capabilities.
