Grindrods was a firm in Weatherfield who put a job for tender out to Fairclough and Langton in January 1975. Len Fairclough was at the last-minute getting the completed tender to them, much to the annoyance of Ray Langton and Jerry Booth and Len ended up lying to them that he had completed the task. That gave him less than an hour to do so and it deliver it to the firm's address in Queen Street. Len feared bankruptcy when the firm pulled out of an order for the Builder's Yard during the following month.
