Musselburgh is the largest town in East Lothian, Scotland. It is on the outskirts of Edinburgh, approximatley six miles East of the City Centre. The town has a population of around 22,000 people. Musselburgh grew considerably in size in the second half of the 20th Century, with thousands of new council houses built in the post-war period. In the Town Centre, a number of flats and tenemants were built, including the four storey buildings at Newbigging. A number of estates were also built on the Eastern periphery of the town, including those at Pinkie and Windsor Park which consist mainly of two storey houses, and further East at the Wimpeys and Wallyford, consisting a mixure of houses and tenemants.
