Brienne is the local miller, and is angry at Jornus Heald for not beginning the corn harvest. She fears that, if he doesn't start soon, the town won't have any flour to make bread for the winter, and they might all starve. She laments that all of Elddim's young men are away, battling the Krug in the Crystwind Mines, so she can't fire Jornus and hire someone else. With the return of the Maljin, Brienne seems to be heavily affected by the noxious red fog falling upon the land, remarking that she is dizzy, and barely able to stay awake, speaking slowly and with many pauses.
