The leader of the Ninja Star Clan, Darien was unique in that he could use the powers of both Nature and Technology. In an attempt to unify the two powers, he created a time rift and fell back in time into the era of the Wild West. On his way back to the present he ran across the injured Chaos Star Ninja Curran Sidian, and helped heal the young man and taught him the ways of the Ninja Star Clan before finally returning to the correct time. Once back in the present, Darien became the Gold Sheriff Star Ranger, able to use lightning-based Ninja techniques. With the aid of the other Rangers, Gold Ranger was able to finally able to unify the two powers of Technology and Nature and unlock the power of the NovaZords (a fleet of Zords more powerful than the ShurikenZords).
