[Source] The J-7b beamdrill was a portable rifle sized Beamdrill used extensively by the Corellia Mining Corporation. In service since before the Clone Wars, the J-7b uses intense pulses of plasma to strip away rock, and was capable of carving through virtually anything - including armor. Because of its portability and cutting power, pirates were known to use the J-7b to breach the hulls and bulkheads of their prey vessels with the device. While not intended to be used as a weapon, the J-7b could be used as such in a pinch, to deadly effect.
