Mounders are giant, hairy herd animals with what appear to be tree stumps growing out of their backs. They are friendly animals that show no fear of the Garthim. In fact, in the Legends of the Dark Crystal manga, they help Lahr to defeat the Garthim. Lahr and his dog-like sidekick, Whouf, herd the mounders for a living.
