There is evidence on the planet that it was once inhabited before as crumbling ruins over 500,000 years old have been discovered. It is alluded to that life on Gadeston was wiped out by orbital impact as vast craters dated about the same age have been discovered. The vicinity of these craters to ruins points to these impacts as being deliberate attacks by some ancient force.
