Greater spirits were a rarely summoned or even defined type of spirit. More powerful that even marids, they were capable of great destructive power and generally required multiple magicians to control, if not contained by some object of power, such as the Ring of Solomon or the Amulet of Samarkand. It was generally considered unwise to summon them without some form of controlling object, as their power was so immense that they could not be contained otherwise and would not only destroy the one who had summoned them, but anything in their path as well. The mere presence of certain of these entities had the power warp reality on a fundamental level, disrupting other existing magic and violating normal physical laws.
