Peel was an avid fan of Winifred Atwell's boogie-woogie work since childhood and occasionally played her tracks on his show. He included her "Black And White Rag" (well-known to snooker viewers as the theme to Pot Black) in his Peelenium 1951 on 21 September 1999. He would later regularly play her tracks as part of the Pig's Big 78.
