The Ambrose family had been moonshine for three generations in their shed, sharing it amongst themselves and close friends when wanted. When David Ambrose heard about Tallmadge's reforms, he quickly came up with the idea of selling his family's blend. He took samples to the banks and lenders he could think of, but found none responsive. Undeterred, he began to ask relatives and friends for money, even promising a third of the company to his cousin's ex.
