The Illustrated World News was an English-language newspaper of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, and was one of the first to contain illustrations as well as text. An issue for June 1857 included an article on the the threat of the Thuggee cult in India, and the efforts of Captain Sleeman and Lord William Bentinck to crush Thuggee assassins since 1828. Indiana Jones kept a copy of this issue in his journal.
