The Silversmith's Guild in Tortall consisted of silversmiths like Isanz Finer and his family but was also responsible for the Silversmith's Bank. In 247 HE the Finers and other silversmiths, namely Uthno, Jelbert Moorecoombe, Honna Bray, Oriel Barber, and Rauf Makepeace, reported a massive increase in false silver coins but the guild, as well as the Provost's Guard, did nothing about it, pressumably partly because some in the guild didn't believe the situation wasn't as bad as was described and partly because they didn't want to start a panick, which would only cause the guild damage, but not realizing that their inaction was also harming them through an inflation.
