Lord Cayvear was the very large male bat ruler of Bat Mountpit. He and his tribe of bats rescued Martin the Warrior, Young Dinny, and Log-a-Log Big Club from the waterfall in front of the mountain. Cayvear's title was "High Chief of the Dark Places." Dinny assisted Cayvear by using the keel of the Waterwing to scare away a large owl. The bats later turned this into a door.
