Janet was the young, smart and coolly efficient secretary to Dawn Painter, the North West divisional director of Charm Cosmetics. Her boss was a formidable character but Janet seemed to meet all the requirements needed of her as Mrs Painter, sharp and curt with Elsie Howard, had no complaints to make of her when she showed Elsie into the office for her meetings and fetched coffee for Dawn.
