As time went on Kobbane became part of the Republic, Lending its army to fight during the Clone wars, but as the tide of the war began to shift for the worst it withdrew its forces for the safety of its people. When the Empire destroyed Alderaan in 0 BBY, Kobbane offered free instant citizenship to any Alderaanian refugees seeking a home. Many accepted, and Kobbane went onto to be known to them as Chai-Freya or "The safe haven".
