Tina Grey is best friends with Nancy Thompson (portrayed by Heather Langenkamp). In the beginning of the film, Tina confides in Nancy about her nightmare about a man with metallic fingernails. Unbeknownest to Tina, the man is Freddy Krueger, a child murderer, who was burned alive by the parents of Elm Street and swore revenge by murdering their children inside their dreams. The following evening Tina asks Nancy and her boyfriend Glen Lantz to spend the night since she is still scared from her nightmare.
