On 6 December 2008, Bristol Rovers faced Millwall at the New Den in a League One match. This was Rovers' 19th league game of the season, and their first in December. Rovers went into this game on the back of a month winthout a win, after having been undefeated through October, and again failed to take any points from the game. The first half ended in a bizarre incident, where Nadjim Abdou was booked and then shown a red card, the referee believing that it was his second booking when in fact it was his first. He quickly realised his mistake however, and Abdou did not have to leave the field, although he was substituted at half time.
