Although Fire departments (often known localy as Service des Incendies) in the canadian province of Quebec are organised at the municipal level and independent from one another, many aspect of their uniforms, most notably the rank insignias follow the same pattern throughout the province. This has, in turn, lead to some paramedic and emergency organisation within the province to adopt similar rank insignias and titles.
