R2-W9, nicknamed Whiner by some of its owners, was an R2-series astromech droid that in its years of operation served with a Republic Clone Trooper legion, in the droid sockets of starfighters, and finally aboard a smuggling vessel. Stubbornly devoted to its duties and its masters, Whiner was known to actually disdain the company of other astromech droids, considering itself equal to the owners it chose as much as they had chosen it, and was considered rather pompous for an R2 unit by organics and droids alike.
