(Edit)You cannot kill the grey fox, he is a crown character (When you look at a character there is either a crown or a circle) indicating he or she is important to one of the main storylines (Mages guild, Fighters guild, Dark Brotherhood, Thieves guild, or the main storyline). The crown people are the ones who go unconscious when you try to kill them.
