Born in Sussex, in 1845 he married Harriet Dubbins in London. He became landlord of the Loughborough Park Tavern, Coldharbour Lane, Brixton, and chairman of the Lambeth Board of Guardians and a member of the Lambeth Vestry. In 1868 he was elected chairman of the Licensed Victuallers' Protection Society. In 1885 he was nominated onto the Metropolitan Board of Works, as one of Lambeth Vestry's representatives. He remained a member of the board until his death, aged 64. The board was abolished five days after his death. Some information here [1]
