The USS Al-Batani (NCC-42995) was an Excelsior-class starship in service during the 24th century. In the mid-24th century, then-Captain Owen Paris was her commanding officer, and Kathryn Janeway completed her first Starfleet tour aboard the ship. (VOY: "Caretaker", "Shattered") During this time, the Al-Batani participated in the Arias Expedition. (VOY: "Caretaker") In 2363, Academy graduate Peter J. Koester was assigned as an ensign to the Al-Batani. Aboard the ship, he formed a mentor/student relationship with Kathryn Janeway. (Star Trek: Dauntless)
