The Imperial guard arrived on kronus when a scout team went missing inthe desert. Upon arriving they were heavily attacked by The Tau and the Chaos Space Marines, they were pushed back to there landing site and defended there. When the Space Marines arrived and demanded they move the comander, Governor-Militant Lukas Alexander, was too proud and wished to claim the planet for the Imperium. So began their war with their own kind.
