Ulmerin Valeward (pronounced uhl-MARE-in) was an academic mage and the father of Yarrun Firetamer. Like his son Ulmerin had studied at the University of Lightsbridge. He had been Yarrun's predecessor as chief mage in Gold Ridge. He didn't appear in any of the novels personally but has been mentioned in Daja's Book.
