Cheeta (born 9th April, 1932) is a retired chimpanzee actor who appeared in three episodes of Coronation Street in November 1961 as Rupert, a performing chimp brought to No. 11 by Dennis Tanner. Cheeta has appeared in six Tarzan movies, as well as the original 1967 Doctor Dolittle. Cheeta was honoured with a star on the Walk Of Stars in Palm Springs, California, where he lives in an ape sanctuary. He holds the Guinness World Record for being the world's oldest non-human primate at age 77, and his ghost-written autobiography was scheduled for an October 2008 release.
