Usagi Nidei was the son of the female Hare Clan Champion in the early 10th century. He loved a Crab samurai-ko, but she entered the Shadowlands and did not return. He asked his mother for permission to go after her but she refused. That night he sneaked out with the Clan sword and went missing in the Shadowlands. Nidei was later killed in Shiro Hiruma alongside his sweetheart. Their skulls were used to adorn the front gate, and the Exalted Ugu used a spell to raise their ghosts and commanded them to defend him.
