The Steel Confessors Chapter was secretly Founded by the Adeptus Mechanicus for its own use, using Iron Hands’ gene-seed that had been collected from that Chapter's tithes to Mars. The Adeptus Mechanicus took it upon themselves to create a Chapter that only bore loyalty to Mars and the Cult Mechanicus in an effort to better protect their Forge Worlds and private interests. Unfortunately for the Adeptus Mechanicus, the Inquisition discovered their machinations and reported the act to the High Lords of Terra.
