Mario Draghi (born 3 September 1947) is the incumbent Prime Minister of Italy, having headed three Cabinets since his victory in the 2006 leadership election for the National Democratic Alliance, defeating Ignazio La Russa on the second ballot to replace retiring Prime Minister Altero Matteoli. He served as Minister of Finance in Matteoli's final two Cabinets.
