Lovien is a teacher of illusionists in the Magicracy of Alent who resides in Etemenanki, the central ziggurat of Alent. Every mage wishing to get an illusionist's license must pass his examination which includes testing the applicant's skill in casting illusion magic. Lovien examined Raul Emmenson and other thieves of the Union Workers who passed the test in 1017 AE.
