Maria Verde was the president of the UEG during the Fifty-Years' War. Her father, Roberto Verde, was a member of the Unified Earth Government's General Assembly, giving her an early start in politics. He took her under his wing and taught her how to manipulate political alliances to her end. He was a well-respected member of the Assembly, which helped her in her presidential run in 2614.
