The Rubat are a powerful clan in the north-eastern part of the Ashwan Desert. Like the other desert clans, they value their independence and view the people of Ravinale with suspicion. Being raised as a member of the Rubat clan before fleeing to Ravinale in order to avoid an arranged marriage, Rahel would describe the Rubat as "backwards people who treat women like animals; animals like objects, and think that objects hold the very meaning of life itself. They are illiterate, superstitious, and cruel."
