Deputy Pool was a police officer working under Sheriff John Hunt in Fairvale, California when Norman Bates was released from his 22 year institutionalization. Pool went with Sheriff Hunt to the Bates House to question Norman with respect to the disappearance of Josh. Pool noted to Norman that the cellar storm doors were unlocked and he should padlock them. Later, Pool interrupted Mary Loomis as she was about to stab Norman to death. Pool shot and killed Mary.
