Professor Neville Scott Longbottom (born 30 July 1980) was a pure-blood wizard who attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry as part of Gryffindor house. His parents; Alice and Frank Longbottom, were members of the original Order of the Phoenix and fought in the First Wizarding War. In November, 1981, Neville's parents were tortured into insanity by four Death Eaters with the Cruciatus Curse, regulating them into the permanent ward at St. Mungo's Hospital. Due to his parents' incapacitation, Neville was raised by his paternal grandmother, Augusta Longbottom.
