Mr Cartwright officiated at the Registry Office wedding of Emily Bishop and Arnold Swain in September 1980. Deirdre and Tracy Langton were bridesmaids and George Turner was the best man. Bill Croasdale had appeared two years earlier as Mr. Fearnley, who performed the wedding ceremony of Alf Roberts and Renee Bradshaw. While the character played by Croasdale in Episode 2029 was credited only as Superintendent Registrar, he is named in dialogue as Mr Cartwright and so they are not the same character.
