Periki Remarro was an ancient Bajoran who lived in land controlled by the Lerrit, then later the Perikian of the Perikia Peninsula, named in her honor. Periki Remarro had first agitated for independence against the oppressive Lerrit, and organized the resistance movement; although she was not the first to think about it, she was the first to publicly say so. Shortly after organizing the resistance, Periki was hanged by Lerrit authorities. (DS9 short story: "Horn and Ivory")
