Galleywood Football Club is an Essex football team based in Galleywood,Chelmsford. They play their football in the Essex Olympian League. They were established in 1912, formely known as Galleywood Social Club, playing a a black and white striped kit (as they still wear today). Galeywood were drawn to the Chelmsford and Mid-Essex League formed in 1898, where it took them until the 1930's that they made their mark on the League Honours Board. It was in the 1929-30 season that the League introduced a domestic knock out cup competition to be run "along the lines of the F.A. Cup" as proposed by Mr Finch of Chelmsford Rangers and it was introduced as the Hugh Wright Cup. Considering the League had now grown to over 40 teams, it was decided this level could support such a competition. Easter Monda
