The Rancor-class new type battle cruiser was a battlecruiser developed within the Maw Installation during the end of the New Jedi Order and seen occasionally throughout the Legacy era. It was an 21 meter starship designed to carry dignitaries and destroy solar systems with equal elegance. Although its name implied ugly power, it was actually a joke from the engineering department. During its final production, a Rancor escaped its cage, hid within the Command Center, and actually powered up the ship. This led to jokes than even a Rancor could fly the new ship and eventually brought about it's class name.
