There are a dozen different ways this could be accomplished. The easiest way for a new user would be to install Firestarter. Using it's wizard, you can easily enable internet connection sharing for an Ethernet card. Note that to connect two computers via Ethernet you'll also need a crossover cable; a standard Ethernet cable will not work.
