The Inheritance Cycle was planned to be a trilogy but the author found there was too much material to include in three books and converted it into a series of four fantasy novels instead. The series was written by homeschooled author Christopher Paolini. The protagonist is Eragon, a young man who discovers a special "stone". The stories involve mythical kingdoms, evil beings, dragons, and magic. The four books are titled Eragon, Eldest, Brisingr and Inheritance.
