Fernand Bachelard was born in Templeuve, Belgium on 11 July 1922. As a child he was quite small. He didn't start his growthspurt until his early adulthood. When he was 18 he claimed to be 190 cm. When he was 21 he claimed to be 210 cm, wore size 50 shoe (European size) and weighed 150 kg. In 1970, when Fernand Bachelard was 48, he had reached his final height at a claimed 234.5 cm and wore size 62 shoe and weighed 225 kg. He was also known as Le geant Atlas or Monsieur Atlas.
